PLN (Action Projects)

Today we had a variety of different action projects presented in English class. The one that really stood out to me was Human Trafficking. When seeing movies like "Taken" it makes me realize the issue of human trafficking. But, this topic has never been at the front of my mind. I didn't realize that the store Walmart, which me and my family use quite frequently, were major human traffickers! This presentation was definitely an eye opener. My thinking was majorly changed and made me want to really make a difference with this issue.

PLN My Research article

For my position paper I chose the topic alcoholism. As I researched this disease the article "Alcoholic Parent" was the article that really changed my thinking. The things that were new to me were the four indications of alcoholism. These are cravings, loss of control, physical dependence, and tolerance. The loss of control I thought was the most mind boggling. I know that alcoholics crave alcohol and are dependent and tolerant to alcohol I've just never thought of how they loose complete control, until this article opened my eyes. As i continue my research I hope articles like this will change my thinking on this topic.

My PLN reading (the shack)1/25week

By the reading "The Shack" my perspective has changed. William B. Young uses interesting metaphors for God,Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Growing up I knew God was caring and always there. But having god portrayed as a big African American lady like Aunt Jemima really changed my perspective on things. It was a little weird at first to comprehend this but then it gave me a better view of who god really is. In some ways this opens me to new possibilites of having a deeper connection with God.
